Conference theme: Resist, give up, or reinvent? Multiple perspectives on the ideas and practices for social and ecological transformation

The 21st conference of the International Research Network on Organizations and Sustainable Development will take place at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne. Organized by the REGARDS team at the CRIEG research center (UR6292), the conference will be held from October 19 to 21, 2026, on the Croix-Rouge campus in Reims. October 19, 2026, is a doctoral day (call for applications to come).

This edition of the RIODD conference is in line with previous editions, which examined the organizational and institutional changes underway or needed to respond to social and ecological upheavals (Grenoble 2018, Lille 2023, Brussels 2024), and which proposed to highlight the concrete translations in economic and social regulations that this entails, including the compromises found and their transformative capacities (Montreal 2015, Toulouse 2025). We wish to collectively question the relationship between change, organizations, and collective action based on a triptych: “resist, renounce, or reinvent?”.

The detailed call for papers is available in the corresponding tab in the menu on the left or here

As with previous editions of the RIODD Congress:

  • It is possible to propose thematic sessions related to the theme of the congress or to the broader theme of the link between organizations and sustainable development. We will accept sessions proposals until February 13, 2026. Specific calls for papers will be posted on the congress website, alongside the main call for papers. Papers related to a thematic session must be submitted to the website before April 10, 2026, in a dedicated tab.
  • All proposals for papers related to the call for papers, or more generally to the broad theme of the link between organizations and sustainable development, which is at the heart of RIODD's work, will be considered. The conference offers a thematic orientation that is not exclusive.
  • The RIODD conference aims to be interdisciplinary. Research in the fields of humanities and social sciences, engineering, and life sciences will be considered with keen interest.

Two prizes are traditionally awarded at the Congress:

- The RIODD Thesis Prize. This prize recognizes the best theses that improve understanding, practices, and debates on the issues, effects, or criticisms of the various aspects of sustainable development in organizations, including questions of social responsibility or, more generally, the relationship between businesses and society. Call for applications to be found at https://riodd.net/prix-de-these-riodd/

- The award for the best educational case study in sustainable development or corporate social responsibility. The award is co-organized by RIODD, the Case and Educational Media Center (CCMP), and Excelia: call for applications to follow on https://riodd.net/prix-du-meilleur-cas-riodd/

We look forward to reading your submissions and seeing you in Reims in 2026!
